Social Media Marketing

The world of social media is changing rapidly. Communication skills however, will always remain the same. The ability to listen and be heard is what really matters.

Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are proving to be incredibly important in the world of business, both for-profit and not-for-profit. At Ethical SEO we are very experienced in utilising these media to build relationships to create interest, to find out information, and most importantly to communicate.

We believe that it is very important that businesses communicate with their customers directly. We feel that having a social media guru standing in between the business and their customer is not beneficial to either party. Our preference is to mentor our clients so that they can use new media themselves.

Time management is an issue that many of us have difficulties with. It can seem almost impossible to use new media as well as carry out all the other tasks we need to do in our day-to-day business lives. I argue however, that time has to be found, that if we are not using these new ways of communicating then we will actually stop being heard.

There is much talk about measuring the return of investment of social media marketing. The reality is that this is not so straightforward. It certainly helps to be very clear about what it is we are trying to achieve and we can even put value on these achievements. If we then monitor time spent and investments required to achieve our goals, we can then build some of the picture that shows us our return. It is my belief however, that in the long-term the return gained from fully engaging with social media today is immeasurable.

One of the beauties of social media is that it has the potential to democratise our marketplaces so we can compete side-by-side with some of the world’s largest organisations. Through creative thinking we can find solutions for our customers so that for a comparatively small investment of time and money they can compete effectively in their marketplace.

It is only recently that the importance of social media for business to business (B2B) marketing is being realised. I believe this to be a growth sector. Now is a very good time to begin to build one’s presence in the social business to business marketplace.
